Painting: Meryl in Blue

Meryl in Blue features a young Meryl Streep from the movie Kramer- she was quite a pleasure to paint. It was started during a portrait workshop demo in Agassiz, which is why it rocks the unfinished look. Cleaning the brush directly on the canvas is much easier than on a cloth, and adds a touch of chaos!

Self Portrait: Step by Step

A self portrait is good practice, but certainly tests your ego. Here's a play-by-play from my most recent portrait, a selfie. As you can see in the middle images, I use the canvas to clean my brushes while I work. I think there's some potential to use it in future work. We'll see.

Also, taking pictures of oil painting's is tough, but I did my best. I always do my best!

Brochures for portraiture

When we moved to Haarlem, a surge of determination led me to print brochures that advertised my portraits. For only 10 euros more, I could order 1250 instead of 500.

It sounded like a good idea at the time.
